Christine Christian What makes one woman believe she can lead a management buyout of an Australian subsidiary from the US parent company? What challenges did she face? What skills did she have to learn and how would she measure the result today? Christine Christian is recognized as one of the countrys leading authorities on debt management. The CEO of Dun & Bradstreet Australasia Pty Ltd (DBA), Ms Christian has specialized in this rapidly growing industry for over 15 years, both in Australia and overseas. Throughout her career, she has been noted for pioneering numerous groundbreaking services and setting benchmarks for standards within the industry. Today, Ms Christian is one of Australasias most respected business commentators. She is frequently quoted in national and international media and is a sought-after keynote speaker at conferences and seminars throughout the region. Formerly the Managing Director of Dun & Bradstreet Australia & New Zealand, Ms Christian led the much publicised management buy-out of D&Bs Australasian operations from the US parent company last year. Since then, DBA has experienced a growth boom resulting in a 46 per cent increase in revenue and subsequent profits. To prepare for a public float, Ms Christian is now focused on leveraging the extensive intellectual property of DBA to grow the business within its traditional core competency of credit and collections services. Her strategies for future growth include developing DBAs already considerable commercial credit referencing business to include the $115 million consumer credit reference market; expanding its innovative receivables management outsourcing business; maintaining its lead in the development of unique credit and risk scoring products to identify financial distress and predictability of debt; and building its database which already covers every known entity trading in Australasia. Before heading up DBA, Ms Christian worked closely with leading specialist credit sector organisations in the USA, Asia, Europe, New Zealand and Australia. During that time, she held a number of senior executive roles including Managing Director, Operations Director and Sales Director. John Brudenell A knowledge crisis exists. As much as 70% of IT spending goes towards application interfacing! There is data chaos in most organisations with 'islands of information' still in existence. Information is not seen as a strategic asset. Most organisations have incompatible legacy systems with no strategy for 'knowledge audit' and a distrust of the IT function. There have been many solutions attempted in deriving integrated systems to overcome the lack of systems integration and poor data integrity. Why have approaches such as The Continuous Flow Approach; Information Systems Architecture Frameworks; and Object-Orientation failed? There still exists 'islands of information' along the supply chain! This presentation outlines how your organisation must integrate the knowledge chain by sharing information up and down the supply chain to achieve a strategic customer delivery focus. It outlines a New Approach, Enterprise Modelling and how it achieves Business Systems Integration, Correctness of Information, Completeness of Information and Data Consistency. The presentation explains how an Integrated, Enterprise Data Warehouse can be developed incrementally to enable Management to make Sound Business Decisions by receiving 100% of the Information they need, with 100% Data Integrity.
